My Journey with Nexus - Matviy Korsunskiy
Nexus is a consulting company that started in 2024, founded by a group of students from George Washington University (GWU). Our team is passionate about providing top-notch consulting services, driven by a shared love for business and self-improvement.
I discovered Nexus in an unexpected way—during a gym session. Pedro, one of the founders and a close friend, introduced me to Nexus while we were working out. The idea of joining a team of driven individuals intrigued me, and I decided to give it a shot.
Before joining Nexus, I had some experience in business and marketing. I was pretty good at social media advertising, especially on TikTok and Facebook. In my freshman year of college, I started my own social media marketing agency. I ran it for a year before moving on to other things. This experience gave me a solid foundation for what was to come.
My first role at Nexus was as an analyst for Brand Capture, a social media marketing agency we worked with. I teamed up with a talented group, learning a lot about teamwork, strategy, and managing clients. After four months, I moved up to project manager—my first leadership role. It was challenging but also rewarding, pushing me to handle pressures, face my fears, and grow as a leader.
Even though I’m studying criminal justice, I’ve always had a natural interest in marketing and business. Nexus was the perfect place for me to expand my knowledge and show off my skills in these areas. The work I did at Nexus allowed me to apply what I learned in school to real-world situations.
During my time at Nexus, I gained many skills. From planning strategies and managing projects to communicating effectively and leading a team, each project was a chance to learn. These experiences have given me a versatile skill set that I’ll use in my future career. Plus, the connections I made at Nexus are priceless. Working with people who share the same goals has been really motivating. I even met some of my colleagues at the GW gym, which helped strengthen our professional and personal relationships.
Taking on my first leadership position at Nexus was a big milestone. It gave me the confidence to go for more leadership roles, and I’m proud to have recently become the project manager for Nexus Global Initiative (NGI). This role lets me keep improving my leadership skills while helping with our international projects.
Being part of something as dynamic and innovative as Nexus is a unique experience. It’s different from working in a large corporation. At Nexus, we have a culture of mutual respect and
a strong work ethic. We’re not just colleagues; we’re a community of ambitious people trying to make a difference in the consulting world.
Looking back on my journey with Nexus, I’m grateful for the opportunities, challenges, and growth it has brought me. I’m excited to use this experience in my future career, knowing that the skills and connections I’ve gained will be valuable assets.
